Advice from Your Real Estate Agents: Avoid These Four Moving Mistakes
You worked with a real estate agent from our team, you found the perfect new home, and now you’re ready to move in. As real estate agents, there are several mistakes that we strongly urge you to avoid making to ensure that making the transition to your new home is a breeze.
- Skipping the Strategy- Whether you’ve decided to hire movers or handle the process on your own, you need to develop a solid moving plan. This strategy should outline when you’re going to do things like pack up certain belongings, turn off your utilities, and actually start living in your new place.
- Packing the Wrong Way- If you don’t take the time to pack the right way, you’ll end up with a mess on your hands once you start to unpack your things in your newly purchased home. To prevent problems, don’t wait to pack until the last minute. Also, pack your belongings carefully, and make sure you label your boxes in a detailed manner.
Not Having Your New Home Ready- As real estate agents, we’ve seen many homeowners try to move into their new home when it wasn’t quite ready. If repairs are still being worked on or another situation hasn’t been resolved yet, do yourself a favour and wait just a little bit longer to move in.
- Trying to Do too Much- Moving is a big job. Instead of trying to do everything on your own, don’t be afraid to ask for help from nearby friends, neighbours, and family members.
