There are many benefits to having your new home built to your specifications. It is a good feeling to know that nobody else has ever lived in your home and that everything is brand new, thereby reducing repair and replacement costs for at least the first few years. In order to build a new home, the proper building site must be located, and for many, that means looking into new home communities. That’s not the only option, of course, so you need to decide if it is the best option for you.
- Lifestyle – Consider your lifestyle and whether being a part of a master-planned community fits well. There is generally quite a bit of social activity in new home communities, so if you like knowing your neighbours and enjoying the amenities together, this is an ideal situation for you.
- Amenities – One of the biggest advantages of new home communities is the presence of plenty of amenities. Each one has something different to offer, so you can choose one that fits with what you and your family like to do. You’ll be sharing in the cost to maintain those amenities, so having more than you would use may not work well. However, keep in mind that those same amenities can make the value of your home higher, which could make your home more marketable in the future.
- Time and Cost Savings – It would be cost prohibitive to have all the amenities you want on a property that is not located in a community, but when you are sharing the cost with others, new home communities become a real bargain. You also won’t need to spend your day off cleaning a pool or repairing a tennis court.
