Here at the Hawkins/Ryerse Real Estate Group, we want to help you find the ideal home for you and your family. Whether you are planning to sell your current home or are buying a home for the first time, there are a lot of things you’ll need to think about and keep track of. Our team wants to make this process as easy as possible, and to help do that, we have put together this list of things to consider before buying a home.
- Your Budget. Before making any big purchase, you should take the time to create a budget, and this is especially true when buying a home. For a real estate purchase, an effective budget will map out a plan for how you’ll set money aside for your down payment and should also include saving money to cover any additional costs.
- Your Mortgage Options. Of course, the vast majority of people will not be buying a home out-of-pocket but will instead take out a mortgage. Because of this, we at the Hawkins/Ryerse Real Estate Group recommend that you investigate the various mortgage options available to you. For example, if you have enough money saved to make a 20% down payment, a conventional mortgage may be your best option, but if you don’t, you can look into a high ratio mortgage that will let you make a smaller initial payment.
- Your Must-Haves. Another thing that we at the Hawkins/Ryerse Real Estate Group recommend that you consider before buying a home is what features you need your new property to have. Make a list of must-have features before you begin house hunting and keep a record of how each property you visit checks or doesn’t check those boxes. This will help you keep track of each house you’ve visited and make it easier to compare them after the fact.
