The Best Renovations for Boosting Real Estate Appraisal Values
When considering renovating, most homeowners first think about updating their kitchen and bathrooms. While these are great areas to add value to your home, especially before putting it on the market, there are other updates you may not have thought about. While most homeowners mostly focus on the interior of their home, this article offers some great advice on making exterior improvements to real estate.
According to Stephen Wagner, Appraisal Institute 2019 President, the most beneficial home improvements for establishing a significant cost-to-value ratio include replacing your garage door, adding manufactured stone veneers to the exterior, doing minor kitchen updates, adding a deck, replacing your front door with a steel model, and replacing siding.

If you do not plan to stay in your home for a long time, spend time researching which areas will make the most financial sense to update, so you experience a positive return when you list. Keep in mind that what you spend out of pocket will not always equal value.

If you are considering a move in the near future, we cannot stress the importance of using a real estate agent enough. Not only can your real estate agent help you delineate which renovations are most worth it, but they can also help you determine what your home is worth. We are happy to help with both of these actions at the Hawkins/Ryerse Real Estate Group, so feel free to give us a call to get started with the selling process.
